At Holy Cross Church we value the presence of children as an important part of our community. Jesus said...
“Let the little children come to me; do not stop them”Mark 10.14; Matthew 19.14; Luke 18.14
We do not see children as the 'future' Church, they are the Church now.
We welcome children for Baptism - see our Baptism page.
We welcome children 5+ years, at Junior Church, every Sunday in Term time at 10.30am. Children meet in church with the whole congregation for the first hymn, after a special prayer they go into the Hall for age appropriate activities and re-join the congregation at Communion, when they are invited to come forward for a blessing. Our Junior Church has a growing number of children and we would love to see more.
All our Junior Church leaders are CRB checked.
There is a crèche for children under 5, and again those supervising the crèche are CRB checked.
Children are welcome to stay with their parents in the service if they so wish.
4th Sunday of the month we have a Family Eucharist when all children stay in church and take part in the service.
First Communion and Confirmation
At Holy Cross we encourage the children of regular worshippers to prepare for First Communion. Preparation classes are offered to those who are over 7 but under 11. See Weekly Bulletin and Events page for details or contact Revd Ann or Reader Rosemary.
Confirmation classes are offered for young people and adults and are announced through the Bulletin and the Events page and the Parish Magazine.
Before Easter & Christmas we have special Activity Days which are open to all children. These are advertised through the Schools and on our Events page.
At Christmas we have a Crib Service and Nativity Play which is open to all.
